Provenance Integrity Statement
Last updated: January 2025
Our commitments around origin, lineage, synthetic visibility, and non-falsification.
TL;DR
- •Five integrity principles: Authorship, Lineage Continuity, Immutable Transparency, AI Visibility, Non-Falsification
- •We guarantee verifiable proof-of-origin, multi-anchor proofs, stable lineage, and no hidden processing
- •We do not guarantee legal enforcement, patent/copyright protection, or external system availability
- •Synthetic content is always disclosed when detected or declared
- •Immutable records preserve historical truth and cannot be deleted
1. Purpose of SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE
SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE exists to ensure:
- creators can prove authorship
- organizations can trust digital assets
- models and datasets can be verified
- derivative works can be traced
- data lineage cannot be falsified
- public, civic, scientific, and AI ecosystems can verify truth at origin
The platform does not replace intellectual property law, but it provides cryptographic evidence that supports authorship claims, attribution visibility, and integrity.
2. Integrity Principles
SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE is governed by five foundational integrity principles:
A. Authorship Integrity
Every artifact receives a time-bound, cryptographically verifiable origin record that cannot be retroactively altered.
B. Lineage Continuity
All updates, versions, edits, or derivations generate lineage logs, preventing hidden changes or stealth revisionism.
C. Immutable Transparency
When provenance data enters immutable storage (IPFS, timestamp networks), it becomes permanent by design. This preserves historical truth.
D. Visibility of Synthetic Material
AI-generated or AI-assisted materials include visibility signals and metadata when declared or detected, supporting transparency in digital ecosystems.
E. Non-Falsification Guarantee
The system prevents users from tampering with hashes, timestamps, provenance manifests, lineage logs, and system-generated metadata. Attempts to falsify provenance are automatically flagged and may result in account restriction.
3. What SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE Guarantees
SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE guarantees:
- Verifiable Proof-of-Origin: Every artifact receives mathematically verifiable origin proofs including cryptographic hashing, timestamping, manifest creation, lineage logs, and system signatures
- Independent and Multi-Anchor Proofs: Where enabled, provenance proofs may be anchored across multiple independent systems (e.g., OpenTimestamps, GitHub commit history, IPFS archival) for redundancy
- Stable Lineage Records: All revisions, transformations, and derived works produce transparent logs
- No Hidden Processing: SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE does not modify content secretly. All system actions occur through clear provenance workflows
- Integrity-first Security Layer: The platform continuously checks hash consistency, tamper signals, signature validity, archival continuity, and provenance workflow integrity
4. What SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE Does *Not* Guarantee
To avoid misinterpretation and ensure legal safety, the following limits apply:
- No Legal Enforcement Guarantee: Provenance proofs support legal claims but do not guarantee court outcomes
- No Patent or Copyright Protection Assurance: The system generates evidence… not legal rights
- No AI Model Training Claims: The platform does not analyze, interpret, or rank your content. It only validates integrity
- No Guarantee of External System Availability: External systems used for timestamping or anchoring (e.g., OTS, IPFS pinning providers) may experience downtime
- No Guarantee of Completeness for User-Generated Inputs: If users fail to upload or register their artifacts, SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE cannot backfill missing provenance retroactively
5. Synthetic Detection & AI Visibility
SOVEREIGN\PROVENANCE embeds or surfaces declared AI involvement, synthetic fingerprints where detection is possible, inference lineage (for AI labs), and transparency metadata for downstream readers.
The platform does not claim perfect AI detection, modify user content, or make editorial decisions about "quality" or "validity". It simply enforces visibility and records state truthfully.
6. Immutable Records
Immutable records serve the public interest by preserving history. Users acknowledge that immutable records cannot be deleted or edited, this is essential to preventing falsification, immutable proofs may persist across jurisdictions, and immutable content is minimal and metadata-based—not full user content.
Immutable components include hashes, timestamp receipts, distributed archival objects, lineage logs, and provenance manifests.
7. Ecosystem-Level Commitments
Modern Ancients LLC commits to:
- Open Specifications: Provenance formats, manifests, and proof structures will remain open and well documented
- Transparent Governance: Protocol changes and major feature shifts will be versioned and publicly disclosed
- Creator & Researcher Rights: We support the rights of creators, researchers, and public institutions to preserve and assert origin
- Data Minimization: The platform processes only what is necessary for provenance—not more
- System Accountability: Audits, integrity checks, and failure modes will be documented and visible
